About
The domain theoccultlivingroom.com once belonged to someone else. The original site was a community blog on magic, mysticism and the occult, and at some point its owner took it down and wiped it from the internet, articles, contributors, everything.
This project began as an attempt to fill that hole. Rather than republish the vanished articles, which were never ours to republish, we wrote new essays on the same subjects at the same addresses, so that old links and bookmarks would once again lead somewhere worth reading. Nothing from the original site is reproduced here; the essays are original work, written in a more historical register and sourced throughout, and the personal writing of the former contributors has not been recreated.
What started as an act of restoration is now its own independent publication. Since the start of 2026, The Occult Living Room has published a new essay every week, sometimes two on the history and practice of Western esotericism: the grimoires, chaos magick, divination, spirit work, and the scholarship that illuminates them. Each essay closes with sources and further reading, and we hold to a simple standard: claims about history get citations, and claims about practice get honesty about what is tradition, what is speculation, and what is our own opinion.
